Baseball Game Preview: Marian Catholic vs. Tamaqua Raiders

Marian Catholic will head out to face off against the Tamaqua Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Marian Catholic is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Marian Catholic came out on top against Shenandoah Valley on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. Marian Catholic took their matchup against Shenandoah Valley 8-4.

Meanwhile, Tamaqua played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Pine Grove 5-4.

Jake Yenser made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Yenser was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Yenser wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Shannon, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Shannon a new career-high. Another was Quinn Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Marian Catholic's record now sits at 11-3. As for Tamaqua, their record is now 3-11.

Marian Catholic suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Tamaqua in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can Marian Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
