Softball Recap: Bay Rockets vs. Rocky River Pirates

Sadly, Bay is still looking for their first win of the season after five matches. They fell just short of the Rocky River Pirates by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bay of the 10-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Grace Pierce put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Pierce has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Pierce was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Julia Mavis was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a stolen base.

Like Bay, Rocky River also got a great game from a two-way player: Reagan Kane. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Kane was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
