Baseball Game Preview: Faith Academy Rams vs. Pensacola Catholic Crusaders

The Faith Academy Rams will venture away from home to take on the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

On Thursday, Faith Academy had just enough and edged out Pace 4-3.

Wyatt Pippin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Faith Academy's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those hits were Smith's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Pensacola Catholic earned a 10-5 victory over Spanish Fort on Thursday. With that win, the Crusaders brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Reed Rhodes looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colton Guillot was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Pensacola Catholic is undefeated when Guillot posts one or more home runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ben Bates, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

Pensacola Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Pensacola Catholic and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Faith Academy, their record now sits at 6-2.
