Recap: New Hanover Wildcats vs. North Brunswick Scorpions
The New Hanover Wildcats put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against North Brunswick by a score of 72-64. Given New Hanover's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while North Brunswick is ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Hanover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rodmik Allen led the charge by scoring 19 points along with two steals. Allen hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Billings, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, North Brunswick still got an impressive performance from Malakhi Daniels, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Daniels has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Terry Hood, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
New Hanover pushed their record up to 21-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for North Brunswick, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-5.
New Hanover will take on Laney at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. New Hanover has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 842 points over their last 12 games. As for North Brunswick, they will head out on the road to take on West Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Brunswick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
