Basketball Recap: Athens Warriors vs. Williamsville Bullets
Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 51-22 loss at the hands of the Williamsville Bullets. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Despite the defeat, Athens saw an underclassman step up: sophomore James Jones posted four points and seven boards.
Blake Shoufler was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 10 en route to 19 points for Williamsville. Shoufler is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Bodine, who had eight points.
Athens now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Williamsville, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-1.
Athens will venture away from home to take on Maroa-Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Athens is facing Maroa-Forsyth at the right time seeing as Maroa-Forsyth is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Williamsville, they will welcome Pleasant Plains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Plains will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Williamsville surely won't give up without a fight.
