Recap: Hickory Hawks vs. Ocean Lakes Dolphins
If the Hickory Hawks were riding high off their 61-33 takedown of the Great Bridge Wildcats last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hickory took a 56-42 bruising from Ocean Lakes on Wednesday. Hickory has not had much luck with Ocean Lakes recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ocean Lakes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samara Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 24 rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Allison Ragudo was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 assists and four steals.
Hickory's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Ocean Lakes, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory will square off against Grassfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grassfield is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Ocean Lakes, they will head out on the road to face off against Tallwood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tallwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
