Recap: Southwestern Piasa Birds vs. Greenville Comets
It was a good run, but the Southwestern Piasa Birds unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 56-26 loss at the hands of Greenville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southwestern in their matchups with Greenville: they've now lost eight in a row.
Southwestern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cason Robinson, who scored six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocky Darr, who scored eight points.
Southwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Greenville, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Southwestern will take on East Alton-Wood River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Alton-Wood River will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 631st, while Southwestern is ranked 302nd). As for Greenville, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sparta at 11:30 a.m. on January 27th.
