Basketball Game Preview: Independence Knights vs. Heritage Coyotes

The Independence Knights will take on the Heritage Coyotes at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Independence comes in on three and Heritage on four.

On Tuesday, Independence strolled past Centennial with points to spare, taking the game 40-24.

Meanwhile, Heritage earned a 71-58 win over Emerson on Tuesday. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Mavericks are ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Independence is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Heritage, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Independence came up short against Heritage in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 64-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Heritage's Cameron Lomax, who went 11 for 23 on his way to 34 points and six rebounds.
