Baseball Recap: Ben L. Smith Comes Up Short

Ben L. Smith extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They came up short against the Rockingham County Cougars, falling 19-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-0 defeat back in March.

As for Rockingham County, they pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 17 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Rockingham County's part, Carter Matthews made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Matthews was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nate Revis was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Hudson Deel was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
