Meanwhile, Liberty faced Johnston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lightning fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 27-24. The loss was the Lightning's first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Liberty fell to 3-1. As for Iowa City West, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
