Softball Recap: Ferndale Comes Up Short

Ferndale had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Lamphere Rams, falling 13-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 12-11 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Ferndale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ruby Krupa Grob, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lamphere, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9. Considering they have won five matches by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Lamphere's side, Brooke Harrison (2025) made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Harrison (2025) was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Aliana Martinez (2026) was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Faithlynn Donegan (2025) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ferndale will welcome Oak Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lamphere, they will be playing at home against Clawson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
