Softball Game Preview: Victoria East Titans vs. Victoria West Warriors

A classic East v. West matchup is on the schedule. The Victoria East Titans will challenge the Victoria West Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Victoria East has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Victoria East is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Calhoun on Tuesday. They lost 17-2 to the Sandcrabs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Victoria West came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 15-13.

Victoria West's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.7 runs over those games. As for Victoria East, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

Everything went Victoria East's way against Victoria West in their previous matchup back in March, as Victoria East made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
