Recap: Lago Vista Vikings vs. McCallum Knights
The Lago Vista Vikings lost a heartbreaker to the McCallum Knights when they met back in December of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Lago Vista took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of McCallum. Lago Vista has struggled against McCallum recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Lago Vista still got an impressive performance from Addison Lockhart, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Lockhart scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Mia Kinslow, who scored four points along with six steals and five rebounds.
It was another big night for Emy Chen, who scored 19 points along with eight steals for McCallum. Chen is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Miranda DiGiovanni was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Lago Vista's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 10-14. As for McCallum, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Lago Vista will head out on the road to square off against Jarrell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jarrell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lago Vista in Texas (Jarrell is ranked 399th, while Lago Vista is ranked 826th). As for McCallum, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Northeast Early College at 6:00 p.m. Northeast Early College comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
