After both having extra time off, the Whitney Wildcats and the Golden Valley Cougars will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitney will be strutting in after a win while Golden Valley will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Wednesday, Whitney beat Rocklin 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Whitney had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20.

Whitney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Balin Sillence-Dhamrait, who had 30 assists and four digs. That's the most assists Sillence-Dhamrait has posted since back in March. Martin Lim was another key player, getting 27 assists and five digs.
Whitney was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Golden Valley came up short against El Capitan two weeks ago and fell 3-1. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Golden Valley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-23.
Whitney will have to contain Teng Her as he made an impact in Golden Valley's last game. He had 22 digs.
Golden Valley's loss dropped their record down to 22-16. As for Whitney, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-19.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Whitney hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.8 blocks per game. It's a different story for Golden Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 blocks. Given Whitney's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
