Softball Recap: Gibbs Drops Highest Score of Season Against Scott

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gibbs). They put the hurt on the Scott Highlanders with a sharp 19-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Malyiah Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Jessica Dupler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Gibbs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.

Gibbs' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Scott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gibbs beat the Highlanders by a score of 27-2 later that day.
