Softball Recap: Ravenscroft Takes a Loss

Ravenscroft had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-12-1 to make it ten. They came up short against the North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Ravens have lost by exactly ten runs.

Ravenscroft saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macie Mackinnon, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

On North Raleigh Christian Academy's side, Taylor Gardner spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, North Raleigh Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Mercer Gill, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Gill has posted since back in March. Kelsey Knox was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

As of now, neither Ravenscroft nor North Raleigh Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
