Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Chino's Winning Streak

Chino fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Don Lugo on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Grant Kuhns Vasquez spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chino saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xiovany Ochoa, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Ochoa has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Peter Padilla was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Chino's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Don Lugo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chino will face off against Montclair at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Don Lugo, they will challenge Jurupa Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
