Baseball Recap: Union Grove Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Union Grove was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Badger Badgers a 2-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Broncos: when they faced off against the Badgers on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-0 loss.

Not much got past Kody Hage, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Badger off the board. Hage has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Union Grove's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Dye, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. That double was Dye's first of the season.

Union Grove pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Badger, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Union Grove and Badger should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Broncos will square off against Antigo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (121 vs. 295). Meanwhile, Badger (ranked 28th) will meet Beloit Memorial (ranked 309th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
