Softball Game Preview: Steilacoom Sentinels vs. Orting Cardinals

Steilacoom hasn't had much luck against Orting recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Sentinels will head out to square off against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Steilacoom took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Capital with a sharp 15-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sentinels considering their two-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Harper Runn, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Savannah Lingenfelter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Steilacoom was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cardinals on Friday. Orting was the clear victor by a 15-3 margin over Franklin Pierce. The victory was nothing new for Orting as they're now sitting on three straight.

Steilacoom now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Orting, their record is now 6-3.

Steilacoom suffered a grim 24-1 defeat to Orting when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Sentinels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
