Baseball Recap: Boyle County Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

Boyle County came out on top against Washington County on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Rebels walked away with a 6-3 win over the Commanders. The victory was nothing new for the Rebels as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kyler Claunch made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Branam, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Austin Bodner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Boyle County pushed their record up to 19-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Washington County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boyle County will challenge Nelson County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Washington County, they will host Green County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
