Basketball Recap: Morgan Township Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Morgan Township can now relate to. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 68-53 to the Washington Township Senators. The Cherokees have struggled against the Senators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Despite the defeat, Morgan Township saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Clint Lemmons went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 22 points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Johnson, who posted nine points along with six boards and three steals.

Washington Township's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Parks, who shot 67% from the field en route to 19 points. That's the most points Parks has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Armstrong, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 15 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Morgan Township's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Washington Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Morgan Township does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Washington Township, they have already played their next contest, a 61-52 defeat against Kouts on the 8th.
