One of the nation's top two-sport athletes is transferring, according to multiple sources.
Sage Surratt, a football and basketball standout, has withdrawn from
East Lincoln (Denver, N.C.), where he has put up gaudy numbers, and will enroll at rival
Lincolnton.
A finalist for MaxPreps Athlete of the Year, Surratt caught 92 passes for 1,716 yards and 25 touchdown passes last season as a junior. On the basketball team, he averaged 31.2 points per game last season and has scored 2,015 points over three seasons.
The transfer was first reported by the
Observer News Enterprise, which was confirmed by Surratt and his mother.
Sage's brother Chazz Surratt was also All-State in both sports last season and will be a freshman this fall at North Carolina.
Sage Surratt told the Observer News Enterprise: "Obviously it'll be a different environment and new people. I'm just going to get ready and get used to it, establish myself and settle in."
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Surratt is a Top 50 football prospect in the state of North Carolina according to
247Sports. He has six college offers, including North Carolina and South Carolina.
