Basketball Recap: Bradyn Wilson Key Part of Team Effort in Tigers Win

After losing to Whitko the last time they met, Northwestern decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Northwestern Tigers came out on top against the Whitko Wildcats by a score of 56-44 on Friday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Wildcats are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northwestern got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bradyn Wilson out in front who went 6-for-10 to rack up 14 points. Wilson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Connor Binnion, who posted 18 points.

Despite the loss, Whitko still got an impressive performance from Easton Grable, who went 6-for-7 on his way to 17 points. That was a full 38.6% of Whitko's points, marking the third time in a row Grable has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Gibson, who went 5-for-12 en route to 11 points and five assists.

Northwestern has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Whitko, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

Northwestern has already played their next contest, a 57-55 defeat against Rossville on the 15th. Whitko has also already played their next game (against LaVille), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
