Greenbrier Christian Academy came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Horseheads Blue Raiders. That's more bragging rights for the Gators, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Haleigh Murphy made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cora Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ceinna Jordan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Greenbrier Christian Academy's record now sits at 13-1. As for Horseheads, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.

Coming up, Greenbrier Christian Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Cheraw at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.27 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Horseheads, they will challenge Varsity Opponent at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
