Basketball Recap: Marcos Arencibia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alief Hastings over Alief Taylor

Alief Hastings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 48-41 to the Alief Taylor Lions. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marcos Arencibia, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanni Bernal, who had eight points and three steals.

Alief Hastings' loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Alief Taylor, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Foster the next time they take the court. Alief Taylor will head out to face Foster at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Alief Hastings will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
