Baseball Recap: Moshannon Valley Wins Going Away Against Harmony Area

Moshannon Valley never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the Harmony Area Owls as they made off with a 24-0 win. That looming 24-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Black Knights/Damsels yet this season.

Brady Kephart made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Abernethy was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Cash Reifer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Moshannon Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harmony Area struck out six times.

Moshannon Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Harmony Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Moshannon Valley beat the Owls by a score of 22-0 on Tuesday.
