Softball Recap: Davis Sets Scoring Season-High Against Eisenhower

Davis extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They came up short against the Eisenhower Cadets, falling 29-10. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked the Pirates' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Isabel Rosas and Lezlie Cardenas did some serious damage despite the final result: Rosas got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Cardenas went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those runs were Rosas' first of the season. Alyza Mendez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Eisenhower, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Considering they have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Eisenhower's side, they got a massive performance out of Zabella Hickenbottom, who fired off three triples, five runs, and seven RBI while going 4-for-5. With that strong performance, Hickenbottom is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Nicole Salmanca, who went 5-for-6 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Davis will square off against rival Moses Lake at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Eisenhower is set to challenge their familiar foe Wenatchee at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
