Basketball Recap: Westminster Schools of Augusta Wildcats vs. Alleluia Community
The Westminster Schools of Augusta Wildcats can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Alleluia Community 69-30 at home. Westminster Schools of Augusta pushed the score to 50-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the had little chance of recovering from.
Westminster Schools of Augusta found their leader in underclassman India Williams, who scored 34 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Westminster Schools of Augusta's points. Another player making a difference was Aimee Spurlock, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Alleluia Community saw an underclassman step up: Lucy Krementz scored 14 points. Halle Janik was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Westminster Schools of Augusta pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Alleluia Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Schools of Augusta will take on the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Augusta Prep Day will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 478th, while the Wildcats are ranked 134th). Alleluia Community is on the road again on Friday and plays the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully The Habersham School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Tuesday.
