Softball Game Preview: Durango Trailblazers vs. Rancho Rams

Durango hasn't had much luck against Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trailblazers will face off against the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Durango has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Durango is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Legacy, falling 16-3.

Durango saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leiah Biscocho, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Amaya Hampton also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Rancho entered their tilt with Clark on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Chargers.

Brooklynn Braun made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Durango's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Rancho, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Durango couldn't quite get it done against Rancho when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Trailblazers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
