Basketball Recap: Jaime Gomez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Luling over Goliad

Luling was the 59-49 winner over Goliad when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Luling Eagles took a 63-46 bruising from the Goliad Tigers on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaime Gomez, who posted 16 points. The match was Gomez's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Flores, who went 7 of 17 en route to 16 points and eight boards.

Luling now has a losing record at 15-16. As for Goliad, the win got them back to even at 14-14.

Looking ahead, Luling will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Stockdale at 6:30 p.m. As for Goliad, they will head out to take on Nixon-Smiley at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goliad will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
