Softball Recap: Pine Grove Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Pine Grove got themselves on the board against Byers on Thursday, but Byers never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Byers Lions. Considering the Panthers have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Edie Chapman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chapman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lela Seawright was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Rylee Hall was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Pine Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pine Grove pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Byers, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Pine Grove and Byers will both be playing Falkner the next time they take the field. Pine Grove will head out to face Falkner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Byers will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
