Baseball Game Preview: Canton Warriors vs. Rockville Rams

The Canton Warriors will square off against the Rockville Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Canton needed a bit of extra time to put away Lewis Mills. They beat the Spartans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-5.

Tyler Rottkamp looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Canton is undefeated when Rottkamp allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Oden Berg was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Canton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was James Canny, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Canton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rockville). They never let East Windsor get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The Rams have beaten the Panthers the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Canton pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Rockville, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
