Basketball Recap: Pocahontas Comes Up Short

Pocahontas lost against St. Edmond back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pocahontas Indians fell 64-52 to the St. Edmond Gaels. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Gaels are ranked 43rd).

Pocahontas has also been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points over those games. As for St. Edmond, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Pocahontas has already played their next game (against West Bend-Mallard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for St. Edmond, they have already played their next contest, a 69-54 loss against Clear Lake on the 7th.
