Basketball Preview: Hartford Central Tanagers vs. Schroon Lake Wildcats
The Hartford Central Tanagers will head out on the road to take on the Schroon Lake Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Hartford Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Hartford Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They took down Granville 80-61. Hartford Central pushed the score to 63-41 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Horde cut but never quite recovered from.
Hartford Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cailin Severance, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Severance has scored all season. Alawnah Dunda was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Schroon Lake was beaten by the Griffins 70-36 on Tuesday.
Hartford Central's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Schroon Lake, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Everything came up roses for Hartford Central against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 54-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hartford Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
