Volleyball Recap: Chandler Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Casteel

Chandler faced Casteel in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolves fell just short of the Colts by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Colts this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-2 defeat on April 1st.

Chandler actually scored more points across those five sets (100-94), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-20, 18-25, 11-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Anthony Quintana and Ethan Dye certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Quintana had 11 digs and two assists, while Dye had 21 kills and 14 digs. Dye is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 28 games he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Chandler and nudges their season record down to 17-11-1. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 24-3 Perry (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 79.4% over those games). As for Casteel, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 24-10-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chandler will challenge Basha at 5:30 p.m. on the 25th. As for Casteel, they will face off against Perry at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pumas will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight.
