Softball Recap: Kouts Takes a Loss

Kouts lost to Rensselaer Central back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mustangs & Fillies lost 16-5 to the Bombers. The Mustangs & Fillies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Reese Carden was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Tinley Gant made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Peyton Wilson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Kouts' record is now 8-12. As for Rensselaer Central, they moved to 7-12 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Kouts will face off against Portage at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rensselaer Central, they will take on North White at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.71 runs per game on average), something the Bombers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
