Baseball Recap: Mission Has No Trouble Against Balboa

Mission's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Balboa Buccaneers 12-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won four in a row.

Rowan Powell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Adrian Chiavarria was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Mission: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Diego Ramirez, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Mission's win bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Balboa, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Mission will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Buccaneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
