Volleyball Recap: Lovington Comes Up Short

Lovington extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-10. They came up short against Clovis, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Clovis this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Thursday.

As for Clovis, their win bumped their record up to 7-9. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clovis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brynn Petner, who had eight digs, seven kills, and one block. Petner has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophie Roberts, who had ten digs and two aces.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Lovington will head out to take on Hobbs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clovis, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Carlsbad at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
