Preview: Bainbridge Bearcats vs. Cairo Syrupmakers
The Bainbridge Bearcats will play host again and welcome the Cairo Syrupmakers, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Bainbridge suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Hardaway 68-34. Bainbridge has struggled against Hardaway recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Cairo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Thomas County Central, falling 65-23. While losing is never fun, Cairo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while Thomas County Central is ranked 50th).
Bainbridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Cairo, they bumped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Bainbridge didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cairo in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 50-44 win. Will Bainbridge repeat their success, or does Cairo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
