Football Recap: Edison Piles Up the Points Against Lakewood

The Edison Chargers humbled the Lakewood Lancers with a 47-6 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Avea Niumata looked great while leading her team to the win, throwing for 107 yards and a pair of TDs, while also punching in one rushing score.

Edison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Preslee Thomas led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. Sadie Olivares got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Edison's victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

The future could be bright for both Edison and Lakewood: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Chargers will look to extend Fountain Valley's three-game losing streak when they meet at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lakewood will try to hand Woodrow Wilson their seventh-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
