Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Edinburg North

Harlingen came into Monday's game looking for another win against Edinburg North, but Raul Palacios wouldn't allow it. The Edinburg North Cougars enjoyed a cozy 76-59 win over the Harlingen Cardinals on Monday thanks in part to Palacios, who went 11 of 15 on his way to 30 points and three steals. His afternoon made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Roel Palacios, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Edinburg North and bumps their season record up to 16-11. As for Harlingen, they moved to 20-4 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edinburg North will venture away from home to face off against Hanna at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Hanna knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Edinburg North likes a good challenge. As for Harlingen, they will head out to square off against La Joya at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. La Joya is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.
