Basketball Recap: Priory Now 12-3 over Last 15 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Priory walked away with it. They came out on top against the Basis Independent Silicon Valley Bobcats by a score of 83-70 on Tuesday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Bobcats are ranked 549th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Balazs Nyikos was his usual excellent self, putting up 23 points. Those 23 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mate Palotai, who posted 18 points.

Basis Independent Silicon Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Justin Wang, who en route to 31 points, and Andrew Lin, who to rack up 23 points. Wang is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Thomas Hoppner was another key player, posting eight points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Priory is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Basis Independent Silicon Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.

Looking ahead, Priory will challenge Oakwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Basis Independent Silicon Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
