Baseball Game Preview: Malden Catholic Lancers vs. Xaverian Brothers Hawks

Malden Catholic hasn't had much luck against Xaverian Brothers recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Malden Catholic has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Malden Catholic is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Newton South, falling 11-4.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Xaverian Brothers challenged Plymouth North on Friday. The Hawks came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Abe Anderson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Xaverian Brothers' win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Morse, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Morse is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Xaverian Brothers' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Malden Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
