Baseball Game Preview: Ribault Trojans vs. Riverside Generals

The Ribault Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Riverside Generals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ribault has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Ribault's offense. They lost 12-0 to First Coast last Monday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Trojans haven't been shut out since back in February.

Meanwhile, Riverside can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Englewood by a score of 15-11. With that win, the Generals brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Theodore Whittle was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Riverside: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Covington, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

This is the second loss in a row for Ribault and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ribault has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Ribault got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Riverside by a conclusive 14-7 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
