Recap: Mastery Warrior vs. The City School Lions
This season hasn't been kind to the Mastery Warrior, who are still winless after their 14th matchup. They were dealt a 70-33 loss at the hands of The City School on Monday. Mastery was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-10.
It was another big night for Shawn Murphy, who scored 21 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds for The City School. Murphy is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Tyler Ryan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and four blocks.
Mastery dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.6 points per game. As for The City School, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mastery will take on Camden Academy Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Camden Academy Charter presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mastery in New Jersey (Camden Academy Charter is ranked 155th, while Mastery is ranked 665th). As for The City School, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cristo Rey Philadelphia at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Cristo Rey Philadelphia will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
