Basketball Recap: Dugger Union Comes Up Short

Dugger Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 79-21 loss at the hands of the Martinsville Bluestreaks. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-8.

When it comes to explaining why Dugger Union lost, don't look at Landon Keasling. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-10 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dugger Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Martinsville was led to victory by Adam Parcel and Gavin Leloup. Parcel dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards, while Leloup went 7-for-15 en route to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Parcel a new career-high in steals (five). Kaiden Simons was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points and three steals.

Dugger Union's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Martinsville, their victory bumped their record up to 13-15.

Dugger Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-35 defeat against Brown County on the 21st. As for Martinsville, they have also already played their next contest, a 47-32 win against Patoka on the 17th.
