Basketball Recap: Jordan Comes Up Short

Jordan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 42-32 to the Pike County Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-30 two weeks ago.

Pike County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nazarious McDowell led the charge by shooting 54% from the field on his way to 18 points and five boards. Those five rebounds gave McDowell a new career-high. Tucker Saporita was another key player, putting up eight points.

Jordan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Pike County, their record now sits at 3-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jordan won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mary Persons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Jackets' defense better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 53.4 points per game this season. As for Pike County, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Lamar County at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.17 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
