Basketball Recap: Kaci Hatfield's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River View over Greenbrier West

If River View was riding high fresh off their 60-38 takedown of Liberty last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The River View Raiders received a blow on Friday as they fell 71-56 to the Greenbrier West Cavaliers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-50 back in December of 2024.

River View's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaci Hatfield, who posted 16 points and six steals. Hatfield's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Chasity Kennedy was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

River View's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Greenbrier West, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.

River View and Tug Valley will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Tug Valley will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something River View surely won't give up without a fight. Greenbrier West has already played their next matchup (against Shady Spring), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
