Basketball Recap: Deer Isle-Stonington Comes Up Short

Deer Isle-Stonington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 27th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 64-19 loss at the hands of the Jonesport-Beals Royals. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-22 back in December of 2024.

Deer Isle-Stonington's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Jonesport-Beals, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

While Deer Isle-Stonington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
