Softball Recap: Cesar Chavez Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Cesar Chavez came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Camelback Spartans with a sharp 13-3 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-7 on Monday.

Saree Ochoa was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Gianna Jaquez and Jade Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Jaquez went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Garcia went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Jaquez a new career-high. Mariah Flores was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Cesar Chavez hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Cesar Chavez's record is now 9-7. As for Camelback, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Cesar Chavez and Camelback will both be playing Apollo the next time they take the field. The Champions will head out to face the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Spartans will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
